Dharmalaya currently has three locations, all of which are in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh: DEVI (in Dharamshala), Dharmalaya Ashram (under construction near Bir), and a small hermitage near Rewalsar.
The Dharmalaya Institute A service-learning institute proposed to be constructed in 2010-2011 near the Himalayan town of Bir in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. In the tradition of Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram, which united social activism with personal development, Dharmalaya Ashram will offer an integrated programme of experiential learning, meditation and yoga, and volunteer service. The Ashram will provide green job skills to Himalayan villagers and will also serve as a model showcasing sustainable practises, including eco-friendly construction, high-yield organic agriculture, renewable energy and more. Dharamshala Earthville Institute (DEVI) The Dharamshala Earthville Institute (DEVI) is a small, charitable community service institute offering educational and service-learning programmes and promoting cross-cultural appreciation and personal empowerment. DEVI is located in the unique Himalayan town of Dharamshala in the state of Himachal Pradesh in Northern India and managed by Tibetan refugees with the assistance of volunteers from around the world. Rewalsar Hermitage A small, eco-friendly hermitage perched above the pilgrimage destination of Rewalsar (Tso Pema, or Lotus Lake) in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, offering a private, nonsectarian retreat setting for practitioners wishing to undertake extended periods of meditation retreat in a peaceful environment, while living in harmony with nature.
